  • My strongest skill is to stand up for justice and the welfare of Districts; Pulled District 68 from its being removed. Advocated for another District leader who was sexually harassed, to bring her offender to justice.
  • I am a good mediator and have helped Region 8 District leaders in their conflicts.
  • I shall constantly strive to remind our District leaders, that we serve the members.
  • I am deeply interested in developing District trio and club leadership training geared towards eliminating complacency and promoting teamwork.

Volunteer Experience outside Toastmasters

  • As the Publicity Chair and President of International Women’s club in Charleston, SC, spearheaded programs for its members from 20 countries. Produced 2 Television series “Foods Around the World” and “Friends Around the World”.
  •  Initiated entertaining the elderly in the nursing homes.
  • As Secretary of India Association of Greater Charleston created its website and newsletter.
  • Volunteered to mentor students in schools to stay in schools.

Personal information

  • Born in Insein, Burma (Myanmar) and raised in a small village, Karuntattamkudi in Tanjore in South India.
  • Higher education in Madras, India, Montreal, Canada, and Stockholm, Sweden.
  • Academic career started in Charleston, SC, USA.
  • Besides English, fluent in Tamil and Hindi, with a smattering of German and French.
  • 7 DTMs; DL3, EC3
  • A wonderful family consisting of Rajesh Mathur, DTM (husband), two children and 5 grandchildren.
