Unity in Diversity

This happened a few years back: I was in Jerusalem, at the Wailing Wall, sacred for Jewish people, praying with the local people who were wailing and hitting against the huge stone wall! Lifted my head to hear calls for evening prayer coming from the mosque right above the Wall! On my back, the bells tolled from the Church of Nazareth! Here I was, a Hindu, praying with people from all these religions. I thought: "God wanted us to live together in Peace; Why are we fighting"?

Destiny's Child

September 1, 2018

My parents were of Indian origin who migrated from Burma. On the migration route, the women and children preceded the men in military trucks. I was a baby who had fallen in the middle of the night from the truck. The men's group including my father came much later for my father to reclaim me! That was Destiny!

Did You Know?

I finished my High School when I was 12 yr old! Ask me about that story when you meet me in person! In college, I changed my major from Mathematics and Physics to Biology and Chemistry since I fell in love with the drawings of flowers in the Botany class! Being 13 yr old did not tell the professors about my changing the major! They found it at the end of the semester! Luckily, they went with my choice! Destiny's Child, indeed!

Did you know?

I have always dabbled with colors! Did you know I am an artist, who loves to create watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings? It started as psychotherapy when I was a new mother, but blossomed into a precious hobby!

Stay connected to your core!

October 16, 2018

Life can offer temptations and challenges. Always stay connected to your core! It is tempting to deflect here or there. Let us not do it. Stay anchored to your core. Often it is not easy and often it is tough.  In the end, it brings you Peace of Mind!

Did You Know?

We celebrate the four core values of Toastmasters. Yesterday, I saw them exhibited in the least likely person! Let me explain: Rajesh and I usually have our lunch at a close by McDonald restaurant because they have a nice patio with picnic tables. Met this 5 yr old young man, son of the restaurant manager. He came and introduced himself. I could not get his name. He could not spell his name either. He would not give up until I got his name! He was determined to teach me to whistle (which I never could do) and snap my fingers to make noise (which again, I could never do!). I tried to distract Jojo to show that Rajesh could do it! He will not give up until he got me to produce some noises. His instructions were meticulous! I immediately knew I was talking to a budding leader! He had respect for us, Integrity to know what he could do, Service to enable me a non-whistler and non-snapper to do both and Excellence in his teaching method!

You meet leaders even among children. We need to know them!
